I’ve been debating getting a new brush set for a long time, since I don’t have too many of them. I use my old Sephora eyeshadow brushes and random Niré brushes I received in my Goodiebox subscription boxes, so I thought it’s about the time to get a new set and browse for some new products to try out at Douglas.
As I mentioned in my previous post about Project Pan, I’m not going to buy more color make up until I use up things sitting in my beauty box, so this is more of a accessories/replacement haul.
GLOV Brush Set
GLOV is a brand that I got familiar with due to my Goodiebox subscription. We have received reusable make up removing pads from this brand. I was not only excited about it because brand comes from my country of origin but also I was able to test the pads and decide if I like more ecological alternative to cotton rounds. Since then I switched entirely to wash cloths and reusable make up removing pads in my skincare routine.
I picked out this specific brush set because of the case that comes with them. It will be easy to store them and travel with them.
It’s a set of 5 synthetic brushes. I haven’t tried them yet, as they are drying now after first wash 😉
e.l.f. Cosmetics Brow Pencil in Deep Brown
I know it’s 2021 but I’m still not able to do my brows. I have another brow pencil that I use infrequently but I have never tried e.l.f. Cosmetics products, so I decided to give this one a go. I’m still on a hunt for clear brow gel that is available in The Netherlands though 😅
Deep Brown color is pretty dark, almost black, so it suits my eyebrows. I checked the reviews and most complaints I’ve seen is it being too dark, so I’d pick the lighter shade if you don’t have black/very dark eyebrows like I do.
e.l.f. Cosmetics Primer
I’m running low on my eyeshadow primer, so I decided to try this e.l.f. Cosmetics primer in shade Cream. I see mixed reviews, so I’m looking forward to see how it works for me.
I always used liquid primers in tubes, so using this one will come with a learning curve, as it’s pretty hard to get any product out with my fingers. Maybe it is the first layer that’s causing this problem, so I shall see how it works when I get more familiar with it.
NYX Professional Makeup Lip Scrub
Last month I focused more on my lips, as they became a bit crusty. NYX is another brand that I heard about a lot from YouTube but never tried, so I picked out lip scrub from NYX. It is fine grained scrub with nice scent.
e.l.f. Retro Paradise Dream On Lipgloss – Tropical Fruit Punch
This lipgloss from e.l.f. in shade Tropical Fruit Punch was a free product added to any e.l.f. Cosmetics purchase at Douglas. I still have lipglosses that I need to use up before I open this one
but looking at the swatches, it may be a good shade for me. (I swatched it on my hand and it wore off after 5 minutes to pure teeny tiny holographic glitters. Haven’t tried it on my lips, so we’ll see how I feel about that. I love me some holo but I don’t want early 2000’s glittery lips)
Overall, I’m excited to try new stuff in my make up collection, even if some first impressions were not the best. I need to see those products in action to really be able to judge them.
